European press highlights historical speech of JoAPound o Lourenco in Strasbourg

Luanda – European Media outlets have, in general, highlighted the Angolan president, JoAPound o Lourenco, speech at the European Parliament delivered on Thursday in Strasbourg.

Historic speech of JoAPound o Lourenco in Strasbourg writes Portuguese newspaper Expresso de Portugal, highlighting that during 15 minutes the Angolan president indicated the winds of change his country has been through stating that it is now a more open country to the world consequently more friendly to investment.

The German site Deutsche Welle (DW) focused on the Angolan president’s crusade against corruption. “The Angolan president has been tidying up the house to attract more foreign investors and has promised results soon,” it wrote.

Radio France International (RFI) highlighted the fact that this is the first time an Angolan president addresses the European Parliament.

The website recalls, that “a few weeks ago, between the end of May and the beginning of June, JoAPound o Lourenco had already made official visits in Paris as well as in Brussels, where he met with Donald Tusk , President of the European Council

RFI adds that, while questioned on the purpose of these new contacts with European entities, JoAPound o Lourenco, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) political, defense and security cooperation body, justified the old relations between Angola and EU, their common interests in particular in terms of economic development, security issues and the control of migratory flows.
