Football: Djalma Campos back home to join national squad

Luanda – Angolan forward Djalma Campos, currently playing for Turkish club Alanyaspor, arrived Monday in Luanda to join the national football team in Friday match against Botswana in Gaborone, ahead of the group one final round for African Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifier to be held in July in Egypt.

Djalma Campos is joining other players, with stress to Igor Vetokele (Charlton Athletic da Inglaterra), Wilson Eduardo (Sporting de Braga de Portugal), Jonathan Buatu (Rio Ave de Portugal), Geraldo (Al Alhy do Egipto) and Stelvio Cruz (F91 Dudelange da Holanda). who have been in Luanda since last weekend.

Angola rank second with nine points in a group led by Mauritius who qualified for the African competition with 12 points.

Burkina Faso stand third with seven points, while the last placed Botswana are struggling with one point.

Angola participated in several Africa Cup of Nations including in1996 (South Africa) 1998 (Burkina Faso), 2006 (Egypt), 2008 (Ghana), 2010 (Angola), 2012 (Gabon and Guinea Equatorial), 2013 (South Africa), having missed the 2015 and 2017 competitions.
