Government reaffirms bet on welfare of former combatants

Huambo – The Secretary of State for Former Combatants and Homeland Veterans, Domingos André Tchikanha, reaffirmed Saturday in Huambo the Angolan government’s commitment to continue working to improve the wellbeing of pensioners.

The secretary of State was speaking during the central commemorative act for the Day of Former Combatants and Homeland Veterans, which is marked today, with the slogan, “With the former combatants and veterans of the Homeland – let’s make the Angolan Nation united.

According to him, despite the difficulties that the country is facing, the State is still engaged in the search for better solutions to mitigate the multiple problems that the pensioners of the Ministry of National Defence, Former Combatants and Homeland Veterans are still living.

Domingos André Tchikanha said it was, with this purpose, that the sector carried out, from 2019 to 2021, the re-registration and life proofing of all those assisted, which allowed reducing them from a number above 148,000 to 77,000 currently, with a focus on streamlining the available resources in favour of those in need.
