Governor assesses social and economic situation in Panguila locality

Caxito – A health centre with capacity for more than 35 beds may be inaugurated next April in the locality of Panguila, in Dande Municipality of the northern Bengo Province.

The information was made public Friday by provincial governor of Bengo, Maria Antónia Nelumba, during a visit to that locality to assess its social and economic situation.

The hospital facility will have medical, paediatric and pharmacy services, among others.

In the Panguila locality, the governor met with businesspeople and residents, who presented the main concerns they face daily, namely the lack of basic sanitation, water, electricity, public transport, access roads, schools, employment, the state of the Programme for Reconversion of the Informal Economy (PREI), among others.

Maria Antónia Nelumba visited the water distribution centre which supplies the liquid to over 100,000 inhabitants of the locality, and in the scope of the presentation of the sixth phase of the action plan for employability promotion she took the opportunity to deliver 30 professional kits which include tiling, carpentry and painting, for various activities.

The governor´s attention was also drawn to the drainage ditch for rainwater from the modular project between sectors 1 and 9, the homes at risk of collapse in sector 9, the arts and crafts pavilion, the coordination of the housing project and the inaccessible streets due to the rains.

Regarding the issues related to education, she said that they are covered in the economic and social programmes for this year.

Maria Nelumba guaranteed solution to the problems presented to her and advised the communities to organize themselves into cooperatives and associations to benefit from credits and other support.

Regarding the professional kits offered to the young people of Panguila, Governor Maria Antónia Nelumba considered that it was necessary that the young people create cooperatives and associations with an entrepreneurial spirit in order to continue to be supported by the Executive’s programmes, for the improvement of the families’ living conditions and job generation.

The youth thanked the gesture, stressing that the funds will help them to carry out some professional projects, as well as create new jobs.
