Govt commitment to social welfare highlighted

Huambo – The inauguration of the housing project in Bailundo, central Huambo province, is an evidence of the Angolan Executive’s commitment to improving the people’s social conditions of the country and the province, in particular.

The government’s effort was stressed by the governor of the central Huambo province on Friday, ahead of the two-day visit of the President of Republic João Lourenço.

Lotti Nolika was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Halavala satellite city with 3005 residences, in Bailundo, by the head of State.

She said to hope that the investments of this kind will contribute to the socio-economic development of the municipalities.

The governor said that the construction of the Halavala city, the third in the province, will allow more than 9000 families get adequate housing, water and electricity supply, basic sanitation and health and education services.

Nolika underlined that the housing project represents an expression of joy in the faces of young people and children, who were awaiting with expectation.

The project includes social facilities such as kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, a polytechnic institute, a health centre, a sports complex and a police station.
