Head of State official visit exceeds expectations – Community

Lisbon – Angolan nationals living in Portugal and Portuguese nationals said Monday in Lisbon that the first state visits by Angolan President JoAPound o Lourenco to Portugal exceeded the expectations of the community.

In the aftermath of the visit from the 22nd to the 24th November, Angolans positively evaluated the performance of the President of the Republic, JoAPound o Lourenco, during his visit to Portugal.

Speaking to Angop in the Portuguese capital, Angolan national Ana Vasconcelos highlighted the fact that JoAPound o Lourenco was the eighteenth Head of State who has spoken at the Assembly of the Portuguese Republic.

She also referred to the Great Necklace of Don Afonso Henriques, with which the Angolan statesman was honoured, by President Marcelo de Sousa, and the delivery of the Key of Lisbon City.

All this because President JoAPound o Lourenco was excellent in his speeches, having the ability to speak about Angola’s politics in a clear and very direct way, said Ana Vasconcelos, who emphasized the persistent bet on the approach on the fight against corruption.

For Sunamita Daniel, the President restored freedom of expression to the people of Angola.

According to the interviewee, JoAPound o Lourenco wisely listened to the community and answered with sincerity, without false promises, leading the whole community to reflect the moment that the country faces.

To her the fact that it was the first state visit of an Angolan president to Portugal in the last ten years.

She said that during the meeting with the Angolan community, JoAPound o Lourenco requested the sending of all the concerns faced by the Angolans, so that they could be duly analyzed.

During the visit to Portugal, the Angolan and Portuguese governments signed 13 new legal instruments to stimulate bilateral cooperation in multiple areas, including justice, training and management of teaching staff, health, youth, as well as culture and arts.

A declaration of intent was also signed on cooperation between Angola and Portugal in the fields of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.

The visit also served to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on Environment and a Partnership Agreement for the Reorganization and Consolidation of the Angola Health Research Center.
