Huambo creates COVID-19 prevention commission

Huambo – A multi-sector commission for the prevention of corona-virus, in Huambo province, located in the central plateau region, was created last Friday, by the local governor, Joana Lina.

The team is coordinated by the governor of the province, all provincial offices, including the Angolan Armed Forces, the National Police and the organic units of the José Eduardo dos Santos University, as part of the Ministry of Health’s guidance.

The commission has, among other tasks, the prevention of the occurrence in this region of the central plateau of Angola, of a possible case of coronavirus, which already constitutes a global threat, with focus on the People of Republic of China.

Speaking to the press, the director of the local health office, Lucas António Nhamba, said that the commission is also responsible for creating a set of mechanisms to address this issue, in terms of preventive measures at the primary level, with the aim of disseminating information about the disease to the community as much as possible.
