LAOS HOSTS 20TH ASEAN FINANCE MINISTERS’ MEETING
The 20th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ Meeting (AFMM), which kicks off Monday, takes place at an extremely important time as the ASEAN Community enters its first year, says Lao Finance Minister Lien Thikeo.
He said this at the opening ceremony of the meeting, here, Vietnam news Agency (VNA) reported.
At the event, delegates heard the AFMM Chair’s reports on the implementation of initiatives related to infrastructure assistance, insurance, customs, terrorism and money laundering in the ASEAN financial cooperation channel.
Indonesia’s Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro, is expected to deliver a speech on plans to organise the 11th Investment Promotion Conference of ASEAN Finance Ministers in November.
Meanwhile, the Finance Minister of the Philippines, which will assume the Chair of ASEAN in 2017, will brief participants on the country’s activities for next year.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brunei and Vietnam.
