Minister discusses internationalisation of Angolan culture with ambassadors

Luanda – Culture minister Carolina Cerqueira last Wednesday, in Luanda, analysed matters relating to the internationalisation of the Angolan culture with the country’s ambassadors to Rwanda, Congo Brazzaville and Japan.

The minister spoke with the diplomats Eduardo Otavio, Vicente Muhanda and Rui Silva, ambassadors to Rwanda, Congo Brazzaville and Japan respectively.

During the audience with Eduardo Otavio,, the minister said that Angola has had an exchange of experiences with Rwanda in the cultural domain, adding that Angola can use the Rwandese model in tackling the proliferation of religious sects.

She said there can also be exchange of experience in the area of musical education, dance and education for a culture of peace.

In the meeting with Vicente Muhanda, Carolina Cerqueira stated that Congo Brazzaville is a very important country in the historical, political and cultural viewpoints, thus, for Angola, it deserves preferential treatment.

There are brotherhood ties that must be kept alive and the mutual relations strengthen the nation, they create among the peoples and project other important areas for the necessary development and peace in Central Africa (…), emphasised the Angolan Culture minister.

On his turn, ambassador Rui Silva stated that the connection between Angola and Japan in the cultural domain is almost inexistent, however, he stressed, some work must be done for such relations to be boosted.

He went on to say that culture is the core of a nation, so a vast co-operation framework can be established with Japan, through which Angola would absorb aspects of the Japanese culture and transmit its cultural wealth to Japan.

Minister Carolina Cerqueira said that although there is no effective agreement between Angola and Japan, approximation has been taking place in the cultural domain.

To her, the reinforcement of cultural diplomacy can boost the promotion of investments and co-operation in various domains.
