Minister Nuno Albino seeks Portuguese press cooperation

Lisbon The Angolan Mass Media minister, Nuno dos Anjos Caldas Albino, stated last Thursday in Lisbon that the sector that he runs intends to reinforce the cooperation relations with different Portuguese press bodies, in terms of journalists training and upgrading of knowledge.

Talking to the press, in the sidelines of a meeting with the Portuguese State Secretary for Cinema, Audiovisual and Media, Nuno Artur Silva, the Angolan official said that the country assumed the commitment to restructure and modernize the public media organs and for that they want to count on Portuguese experience, especially in the area of digital communication.

Regarding staff training Portugal has rich experience, reason why we understand that some partnerships and protocols with Portuguese mass media bodies must be made and reinforced those that already exist, because it is necessary that Angola follow up this new paradigm. We have agreements with some organs in the domain of upgrading courses, technical and technological training, so we came to reinforce this cooperation more, he stated.

Nuno Caldas Albino said that the Mass Media Ministry assumed the challenge to digitize all historical collection of Angola, be it printed, audio or visual.

We need to make strategies and we want to count also on Portugal’s experience to achieve this purpose, he emphasized.

The minister is making a work visit to Portugal since last Tuesday. He has already met with the Impresa Business Group board, responsible for the weekly newspaper Expresso and the television station SIC, with the board of directors of the Global Media group, among them Radio TSF, as well as the newspapers Jornal de Noticias, Diario de Noticias, the Dinheiro Vivo and O Jogo, the four of them are newspapers.

In his first visit to Portugal as Media minister, Nuno Caldas Albino is accompanied by the National Director for Institutional Communication, Eduardo MagalhAPound es, and the CEO of the state-owned Public Television of Angola (CEO), Francisco Mendes, Angola Press Agency (ANGOP) CEO, Josue Isaias, the EdicAes Novembro printing company CEO, Victor Silva and the CEO of the Angola National Radio (RNA), Marcos Lopes, and as well the General Director of the Popular Graphics, Fernando Cunha.
