Minister of State stresses role of women in communities

Luanda – The minister of State for Social Area Carolina Cerqueira reaffirmed last Thursday in Windhoek Namibia the commitment of Angolan women to contributing to the parity and equality at the level of African governments.

Speaking at the opening of the 10th congress of the Pan African Women Organisation (PAWO) that happens until Friday (28) the also deputy-president of that organization affirmed that Angola encourages the role of women in the promotion of an education of peace in the continent both through institutional and civil society initiatives plus the creation of national mechanisms to guarantee resources and financial credits for womens empowerment.

Carolina Cerqueira expressed Angola’s solidarity support and friendship with Namibia a country with which Angola has close ties.

She stressed that the presence of Angola in this congress with a delegation made up of women from different sectors including from overseas reflects the appreciation for Namibia and the importance that the country attaches to the PAWO.

The event with the participation of representatives from the five regions of the continent is being chaired by Namibia’s Deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi.

In addition to being a founding member of the PAWO Angola assumed the presidency and hosted the organisation’s headquarters for 22 years.
