MORE THAN TWO MILLION ANGOLANS ENGAGED IN AGRICULTURE
More than two million Angolans are engaged in agriculture, ranging from farmers to skilled workers in agriculture, fisheries and forestry, according to the statistics from the 2014 General Population and Housing Census conducted by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
According to the census report, more than 289,000 are skilled workers in the construction industry and crafts, 144,000are assembly machines operators and installation workers.
The INE statistics show that the number of experts in jobs related to intellectual and scientific activities numbered 294,217, while the number of technical and associate professionals totalled more than 190,000.
The census data indicate that the Angolan population is estimated at 25.789 million, with 13.28 million women, representing 52 per cent and 12.49 million men, equivalent to 48 per cent.
The country’s population and housing census took place from May 16 to 31, 2014
