National Team beaten for fifth time in world cup

Luanda – Despite the performance of Base Cristina Lourenco (13 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assistance), the best Angolan in the game of the national basketball team proved incapable of avoiding the fifth defeat in the World Cup in Minsk, Women’s Under-17 to China by 41-97.

The player overcome only by the Chinese Yutong Liu (21 points), Cristina Lourenco excelled in the “driving” of the team during the 22 minutes that was on the court, improved its previous performance of the (6 points in the same time on the field), but the insufficient response of the companions and the greater maturity of the adversary did not allow better than the heavy defeat by 56 points of difference.

The national team was far from overlapping in almost all aspects of the game, leaving at a disadvantage in the four periods, by the partial ones of (8-18), (6-28), (18-26) and (9-25).

The 17-year-old, 1,70-meter-tall, took part in three of the team’s five challenges and is the team’s fifth-best scorer with 19 points on a list led by Cassia Antonio (50 points) followed by Alexia Dizeko (46), ConceicAPound o Caetano (40) and Helena Pululo with 23 points.

Angola will face Colombia on the first (of two) match between the four teams that will settle from 13th to 16th and last place in the standings.

The previous losses were against Australia (43-81), Canada (36-66), Latvia (47-68) and Hungary (48-88).
