Nigeria wooing Angola over purchasing umbilical cables

Luanda – Nigeria is interested in cooperating and acquiring umbilical cables (submarine tubes for oil production) from Angola.

The fact was announced Tuesday by the official in charge of monitor and development of local content of Nigeria, Abdulmalik Halilu Fnim.

Angola is very developed in terms of umbilical services and this will help Nigeria and other countries on the continent to develop the sector, the Nigerian representative told Angop at the 2nd conference on local content held in Angola.

Umbilical cables are produced in Angoflex plant, located in Lobito, coastal Benguela province.

The huge steel tubes allow the connections between the submarine equipment and the oil rigs.

The said process will undergo a study and evaluated by the Asian Productivity Organisation (APPO) member countries.

In the case of Nigeria, Angola may cooperate in providing some of the umbilical cables necessary for the West African oil exploration.
