Over 5,000 Catholic faithful expected in Mbanza Kongo for pilgrimage

Mbanza Kongo – More than 5,000 faithful of the Catholic Church of the Dioceses of northern Angola begin a magna pilgrimage of the apostolic movement this Friday in Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province.

Speaking to Angop in Luanda this morning, the director of the communications and press office of the diocese of Mbanza Kongo, priest Gomes de Jesus Saldanha, said that the pilgrimage will last for three days and will take place in the parish of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, mostly known as cathedral.

He explained that Catholic devotees will pray for the strengthening of the climate of peace, reconciliation and harmony among Angolan families, given the phenomenon of disruption that is happening today.

“They are pilgrims from the provinces of Cabinda, Bengo, Luanda, Lunda Norte, Zaire, Cuanza Sul, Cuanza Norte, Moxico and Uige,” he said.
