Petro de Luanda restore previous symbol

Luanda – The members of Petro de Luanda decided Saturday to return to the former symbol of the club, changed in June 2017, allegedly for greater disclosure of its visual heritage.

Gathered in an extraordinary General Assembly, at the headquarters of the club, in the capital of the country, the associative mass was unanimous about the return to the previous logo, whose characteristics fit better to the history of the club.

Among other slight changes, the current brand has incorporated the colour blue and shortened the name of the association to just Petro de Luanda, contrary to the previous logo, again approved, where one could see “Atlético Petróleos de Luanda”.

As for the conclave, guided by the Vice-President of the General Assembly, Paulino Jerónimo, the management report and the 2019 financial year were approved, as well as the electoral regulations.

It was decided that 13 July will be reserved for the submission of the list or lists competing for the mandate of 2020/2024, while the election will be held on the 18th of the same month.

In statements to the press, Paulino Jerónimo said that the prospect is to have a Petro turned to business “because, definitely, we can not continue to depend on a sponsor, Sonangol.

“The perspective is to get several sources of funding,” he reiterated, adding that it is a work whose results will be made public in due course.

Founded in 1980, Petro de Luanda is one of the most charismatic clubs in Angola, with about nine thousand members.
