PHILIPPINES SHARES MALAYSIA’S CONCERNS ON LATEST KIDNAPPING

he Philippine Government is working closely with the Malaysian Foreign Ministry to rescue four Malaysians who were abducted by a group of eight armed men near Pulau Ligitan, Semporna on Friday night.

Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia, J. Eduardo Malaya said the safety of the victims was paramount to both governments.

“We will continue to communicate and consult with the foreign ministry, and at the same time, the security forces of both countries are exchanging intelligence on the matter.

“Philippine officials will be coming over to Malaysia to liaise with their local counterparts to resolve the latest kidnapping and prevent a recurrence,” he told a press conference after attending the International Business Sourcing Program organised by the Labuan Malay Entrepreneurs Chamber here today.

The four kidnap victims from Sibu, Sarawak were working on a ship registered under the name, ‘Masfive 6’, and returning to Malaysia from the Philippines when they were kidnapped at 6.15pm.
