POLITICAL PARTIES TOLD TO ENGAGE IN MOBILISATION OF ELECTORAL REGISTRATION

Luanda – Political parties have been urged to actively participate in mobilization of citizens for the ex-officio electoral registration, due to start on 23 September.

The appeal was launched by minister of Territory Administration Marcy Lopes on Monday in Luanda at a meeting with representatives of political parties with parliamentary seat.

He said that the Executive wants all citizens eligible to vote to update their electoral cards.

“We hope that political parties exercise sufficient influence on citizens with the capacity to elect and be elected in the next election, for effective adhesion to the registration process”, he said.

He said that the ex-officio electoral registration will be conducted at 596 Public Service Desks (BUAP), to be implemented in the country, while abroad it will take place in diplomatic and consular missions from January 2022.

According to the official, once the data are updated, the BUAP will issue a citizen’s card, a document that should be given to all national citizens, regardless of age, as proof of residence in a specific municipality.

Ex-officio electoral registration is an automatic transfer of the data of voting age citizens contained in the ID to the electoral file.
