Portuguese president declares partnership privileged cycle open

Luanda – The Portuguese head of State Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said Friday that his visit to Angola marked a new cycle of privileged strategic partnership between the two States and peoples.

This was at a meeting with the diplomatic corps and international organisations accredited to Angola.

The Portuguese president said he believed in President JoAPound o Lourenco’s ambitious and unstoppable policy of converting Angola into a regional, continental and world power.

At the ceremony, witnessed by the Angolan counterpart, JoAPound o Lourenco, Rebelo de Sousa said that an essential page was turned and a new chapter in common history was open to the future for the benefit of the two peoples.

The president said that the interaction he had with people touched him, adding the move is an evidence that the force bringing together the two peoples is based on an indestructible, spontaneous and genuine fraternity.

At the meeting, also attended by Angola’s first lady Ana Dias Lourenco, and the vice-president of Republic Bornito de Sousa, the Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa recalled the warm welcome by many Angolan citizens who love Portugal and the Portuguese who love Angola.

He said guaranteed that he will never forget his Luanda- Huila-Benguela trip and he will miss it.

Rebelo de Sousa seized the occasion to pay tribute to Angolan ladies, ahead of the International Women’s Day, describing them as fighters, persistent workers and pillars of the nation.
