President congratulates national team over victory

Luanda – Angolan head of State JoAPound o Lourenco congratulated Monday the national soccer team (Palancas Negras) on the results attained in the last months, having reiterated the Government’s support for national sport.

JoAPound o Lourenco was delivering his speech during the State of the Nation address at Parliament building, to mark the opening ceremony of legislative year.

The president underlined that the latest results of the National team represent a great reason of pride for Angolans.

Angola beat Mauritania 4-1 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification Group I match at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.

The victory saw Palancas Negras extend their lead at the top of the group standings with six points, after successive wins over Botswana (1-0) and Maritania (4-1).

After expressing concern at the advanced run-down state some sports infrastructures in the country, the president called for the need to find a sustainable solution of their maintenance and management.
