Road accidents cause over 1,000 deaths in Angola

Luanda – At least 1,159 people died and 5,452 others ended up injured as a result of 5,000 road accidents that occurred all over the country during the first semester of the year 2018.

The information was given on Monday, in Luanda, by the spokesperson of the Interior Ministry’s Broad Consultative Council, SimAPound o Milagres, stressing that excess of speeding, bad technical condition of the vehicles and drink-driving have been the main causes behind these accidents.

On the sidelines of the council, SimAPound o Milagres added that the provinces with the highest numbers of accidents recorded are Luanda (809), Benguela (597), Huila (520), Huambo (450) and Bie (401).
