Rock and Roll Festival returns to Lobito

Lobito – Three years after, the city of Lobito, province of Benguela, gets ready to host the Rock and Roll 6th edition festival, in July, following the relief of restrictive measures against Covid-19 by the Angolan Multi-Sector Commission.

The information was provided this Tuesday to ANGOP by event promoter Edson Renato, when asked about the cultural movement in Lobito.

Edson Renato said that all (his team, the artists and lovers of that style of music) are looking forward to experiencing “contagious moments” again, which they did not had since the time the Covid-19 pandemic hit the country, in March 2019.

He guaranteed to have the institutional and financial support confirmed for the event and believes that it will surpass the five previous editions, intending to reach around 5,000 spectators this year.

“In addition to musicians from the provinces of Benguela, Huambo and Luanda, who usually participate in this festival, this time we have the presence of a Namibian singer named Shiruka, who will also bring her experience to Rock lovers”, he emphasized.

In his opinion, digital platforms have played an important role in promoting the festival of that style of music in the city of Lobito, as there is an increasing number of participants.

However, Edson Renato sadly recalled the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which took the role of organizations, groups and individual artists, removing their availability and ease of obtaining financial and technical resources.
