State Minister backs inclusive education

Cuito Minister of State for the Social Area Carolina Cerqueira Thursday in Cuito, central in Bie province, defended the need to implement inclusive education, aimed to reduce the number of children outside the teaching system.

The official expressed this need on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of an eight classroom school of the first cycle, called Colegio Comandante 90.

Carolina Cerqueira said that an inclusive education was necessary, where all children have access to school with a quality education to reflect on a new Angola that is being built.

She reiterated the Angolan Executive’s availability to work on construction and equipping of several education institutions to reduce the number of children outside the normal school system.

Carolina Cerqueira praised the partnership of the non governmental organisation (NGO) Rise Angola, which has allowed the insertion of several children in the education system and the expansion of the school network in the country.

The inaugurated school, estimated at 101.6 million kwanzas, has a capacity for more than a thousand students and was built under the partnership between the government and the NGO Rise Angola, in a partnership with the Evangelical Church of the Brothers in Angola (IEIA).

Data from the sector predicts that the present academic year (2020) will absorb around two million and five hundred new students.
