State Secretary suggests bet on cultural tourism

Luanda – The Secretary of State for Cultural and Creative Industries, JoAPound o Constantino, stressed on Friday, in Luanda, the need to promote investment of the Angolan economy through cultural tourism, scientific research and artistic production.

The Cabinet official, who was speaking during a reflection workshop on the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Angolans in North America (1619-2019), as part of the slave route, said that cultural tourism should be leveraged as a way of enhancing the potential the history of the country and create jobs.

For JoAPound o Constantino, researchers and academic institutions should reflect on the history of Angola, using data and records of resistance in archives, to get a sense of the number and role of Angolan slaves brought to America.

He highlighted the contribution of Angolans in the formation of contemporary American cities.
