Swimming: Angola win bronze at African regional tournament debut

Luanda- The swimmer Maria Freitas won the bronze medal on Thursday night, in the African Regional Championship (Zone IV), which is disputed in the Gaborone, Botswana.

The athlete clocked 37’84 seconds, in the 50 meters breaststroke.

This is the best result achieved, in this inaugural round, by the national team that participate with 25 athletes.

With this initial score, Maria Freitas, aged 22, improves her performance at the level of this continental event, after being left blank in the 2019 edition, held in Namibia.

National team formation: Lucas Silva, Gilberto Silva, Emanuel Lutango, Alex Fortes, Jose Cochofel, Rafael Bredel, Armando Augusto, Helio Taborda, Yusseni Furtado, Marco Furtado, Alexandre Francisco, Yano Elias and Filipe Freitas (male).
