Switzerland: Minister of Environment in Geneva for COP18

Geneva – Environment Minister Paula Francisco is in Geneva, Switzerland since Wednesday for the 18th Convention of the Parties on the Illegal Trade of endangered Wild Fauna and Flora species (COP18).

Coming from South Korea, where she participated in the Green Climate Fund (GCF) session on global programming, Paula Francisco was received at the Geneva International Airport by the Permanent Representative of Angola to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Margarida Izata.

The Angolan official presides over the Council of Ministers of the Elephant Protection Initiative (EPI), in parallel to COP18, on Thursday (22). On the agenda is the approval of a new governance structure of its secretariat, which is now headed by the Presidents of state.

COP18 runs from 16 to 28 August and is discussing 107 issues and 57 proposed amendments around wildlife protection.
