TAAG wants to save USD 4 million / year with snack cut

Luanda – At least 4 million dollars is the minimum amount that TAAG – Angola Airlines S.A – intends to save annually, due to the cut, since February 1, 2019 of meals during inter-provincial travel.

This projection was released to ANGOP by the company’s CEO, Rui Carreira, noting that, although no calculations have yet been made, the measure has helped to significantly reduce related wastes because most people do not eat.

“These calculations are not yet done, but our projection is to save, during the year, the return of four million dollars. So this started a very short time ago and we have not made the aftermath,” he said, arguing that the initiative fits into the reality of the aviation industry.

In Europe and the United States, for example, Rui Carreira argued, there is no lunch (catering service) for flights up to two hours, and “the 40-minute flight is not designed to quench anyone’s hunger. TAAG should not do otherwise. “

As for passengers who are hungry because of carrier delays or cancellation of flights, he replied: I am telling you about a TAAG that has a punctuality performance of 85 percent and that last year carried about one million and 300 thousand people.

“An irregularity can happen at one time or another, and when it happens, TAAG has assumed its responsibilities, giving food to the passengers in that condition. In fact it is part of our land operations manual, in cases of delays of more than two hours “- he finished.

Regarding the cuts in the Government, by the President of the Republic, the judiciary magistrates and public managers, he regretted the fact that they are frequent passengers of the said class, but that almost nothing harms because they never occupied more than ten places.

Daily, the national flag company carries on average almost 1,500 passengers, according to this official.
