Vice President at ECOWAS and ECCAS Summit

Luanda – Angola’s Vice President Bornito de Sousa travels to Lome, Togo, on Sunday to attend the Joint Summit of Heads of State and Government of the West African Economic Development Community (ECOWAS) and the Central African States (ECCAS) on security, stability and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism.

Representing the Angolan head of state, JoAPound o Lourenco, the Vice President of the Republic will join other politicians at the joint summit under the efforts of the two communities to promote peace, security, stability and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in common spaces.

According to a press release from the Vice Presidency office to which ANGOP had access Saturday, the event has the support of the United Nations.

Angola has been a member of ECCAS since 1999, and as part of this and other international organizations, has been working bilaterally and multilaterally for peace, stability and development in the region.
