Wesgro seeks strengthened trade ties in Angola’s tourist sector

Luanda – The Tourism, Trade and Investment Agency of the Western Cape ?Wesgro? is seeking to develop partnership and bolster trade ties with Angolan tourist sector, said on Tuesday in Luanda, its executive director, Tim Harris.

Speaking in a press conference for the introduction of the campaign “A vida tem outro sabor em Cape Town” (Life has another flavour in Cape Town), the manager underlined that the organization recognizes the importance of the Angolan market for the development of partnership, since Angolan citizens often travel to South Africa for doing business and tourism.

According to Tim Harris, Wesgro is working in partnership with South Africa Tourism (SAT) to run several educational sessions between Angolan tour operators and the South African tourism industry to develop tourist experiences in identified categories.

However he added that the current campaign is aimed at promoting “Cape Town” as a preferred tourist destination, highlighting the province’s wine offer “premium” as well as tourist, gastronomic and various shopping options.

The campaign to take place in Luanda on September 27, will count on the participation of five Angolan chefs, who will prepare five different meals combined with five South African wines.

At least one million rand are expected to be invested for the holding of the campaign.
