Ondjiva: 1º de Agosto emerged victorious in the National Under-17 Men's Football Championship on Saturday, defeating Petro de Luanda 3-2 in a tightly contested match at the Castilhos Stadium in Ondjiva, Cunene Province. According to Angola Press News Agency, the winning goals for 1º de Agosto came from André, who scored in the 17th, 60th, and 70th minutes, with the final goal delivered from the penalty spot. Petro de Luanda's goals were scored by Ronaldo in the first minute and Eufragino in the 24th minute. The match served as a rematch of the 2025 National Under-17 Championship final, where Petro had previously bested 1º de Agosto 1-0 at the Coqueiros Stadium in Luanda. 1º de Agosto's coach, António Mendonça, expressed pride in his team's success and congratulated the players on their performance. Petro's coach, Joaquim da Costa, also praised his team's efforts despite their loss. Andelson Valengifa, president of the Cunene Provincial Football Association, acknowledged the high-quality football displayed b y both teams. Generoso Kondjassili, the Cunene deputy governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, presented the championship trophy to 1º de Agosto. Academia de Futebol Estrela do Futuro secured third place in the tournament by defeating Sporting Petróleos do Bié 3-1. The championship tournament, held in Cunene Province from August 6 to August 22, featured 14 clubs and included matches at the Castilhos Stadium and in the Ekuma centrality area.
