Casio to Release Third G-SHOCK Rui Hachimura Signature Model

Dial and Band Design Inspired by Tateyama Mountain Range in Hachimura’s Home Prefecture of Toyama in Japan

TOKYO, Nov. 7, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Casio Computer Co., Ltd. announced today the release of the DW-6900RH, a new addition to the G-SHOCK brand of shock-resistant watches. The DW-6900RH is the third signature model designed in collaboration with professional basketball player Rui Hachimura, who plays in the NBA.

DW-6900RH

Hachimura not only plays for the Washington Wizards, but is also a key member of the Japanese national basketball team. Casio signed a global partnership agreement with Hachimura in November 2019 to support him as he pursues great things.

The new DW-6900RH is a signature model designed in collaboration with Hachimura. This design begins with the shock-resistant DW-6900, nicknamed the “three-eyed watch” because of the row of three indicators on the dial, and highlights the Tateyama mountain range in Hachimura’s home prefecture of Toyama.

The dial is printed with a contour map of the Tateyama mountain range, while the light-blue printing on the white band represents majestic snow-capped peaks. As befits a signature model, RUI HACHIMURA adorns the watch glass and his signature “Black Samurai” logo features on the case back, the LCD when the backlight is on, and the special packaging. The invigorating light blue and white color scheme draws on Hachimura’s roots, bringing to life the melting snow of the Japanese Alps.

Hachimura had this to say about his latest signature timepiece, “I designed this third model based on the image of the Tateyama Mountains in my hometown of Toyama, a place that holds fond memories for me, with the bright colors and the great view of Tateyama as a motif. I hope you all enjoy it!”

International Net Reserves cover over seven months of imports

Luanda – International net reserves maintain a balance of US$13.6 billion, covering just over seven months of imports, the governor of the National Bank of Angola (BNA) José de Lima Massano said Monday in Luanda.

Speaking to journalists, on the sidelines of the launch of the book by jurist Carlos Feijó, entitled “Central Banking and Public Finances”, the governor underlined that the International Net Reserves “have remained very stable”.

According to the governor, the stability is due to a methodological change in the calculation of international reserves, which currently exclude all liabilities.

He explained that there is no longer a treasury deposits in international reserves that “are kept with the BNA, which today are resources available to the Central Bank to protect our currency”.

On the other hand, José de Lima Massano says that, as regards the credit granted under the BNA Notice/10, there are just over US$1.2 billion in foreign currency, “what was managed to mobilise support, via Notice 10, and we have commercial banks actively participating”.

According to the governor, the balance for the first 11 months of the year is positive, and with the new law, the emphasis was placed on inflation.

“Angola has been registering a reduction in the inflation rate, that should be below 18%, which “is positive and we will, probably, maintain these courses and more quickly reach the desired single digit”, he mentioned.

Low vaccination coverage increases meningitis’ risk

Luanda – Low vaccination coverage among children and teenagers was pointed out as the main cause of the meningitis’ increase risk, Angop has learnt.

The warning was launched Monday by the coordinator of the National Vaccination Programme Felismina Neto, when speaking to Angop on vaccination programme.

Felismina described the prevention, through vaccination, as the simplest, safest and most effective way to protect against infectious diseases.

The official regretted the low rate in terms of compliance with the vaccination record booklet among children and young teens, a factor that worries the health authorities.

Meningitis is an infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord (meninges), usually caused by viruses or bacteria.

If not treated quickly, this disease can lead to permanent damage to the nervous system, widespread infection (septicemia), and causes death within 24 hours of the onset of symptoms.

According to the official, the country has reported cases of the disease, with stress to the province of Huambo, where 126 cases were registered this year, with an above-average lethality.

Stakeholders urged to take action to improve the distribution of doctors in Ghana

Accra, Ghana—The World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to Ghana, Dr Francis Kasolo has called for concerted action to bridge the equity gap in the distribution of doctors between rural and urban areas in Ghana.

Delivering the keynote address at the 64th Annual General Conference of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) on the theme: doctor distribution dilemma—the case of Ghana and its underserved areas, Dr Kasolo described the unfair distribution of doctors and other healthcare workers across the country as a threat to efforts towards improving the health and wellbeing of all people and urged all stakeholders to take action immediately to address that.

“The inequitable distribution of doctors between rural and urban areas is now a crisis. It seriously undermines our progress towards Universal Health Coverage and we must all work together to address it”, Dr Kasolo noted.

Ghana has made tremendous gains in the doctor-to-population ratio, improving from one doctor to 17,899 in 2005 to one doctor to 6,500 in 2020

However, available data also show that 42% of the doctors are in Accra alone, and up to 81.3% of all doctors are concentrated in 5 regions–Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Northern and Volta regions, with the Teaching Hospitals in these five regions together having over 60% of all the doctors in Ghana.

“Over the years, Ghana has made progress in improving the doctor-to-population ratio, but we must remember that the unfair distribution of these doctors leads to unmet health needs in rural and remote areas resulting in a decreased life expectancy; higher preventable maternal and under-5 mortality rates,” he added.

Dr Francis Kasolo identified migration and retention challenges as some of the causes of the shortages of doctors in Ghana and recommended some key interventions in line with WHO guidelines on health workforce development, attraction, recruitment and retention in rural and remote areas.

“Providing differential incentives for those working in rural and under-served areas and re-engineering the training and regulation of doctors to include extensive exposure to rural and under-served areas will help improve the situation,” he said. “We must also provide deliberate opportunities for the admission of medical students from rural and deprived areas and provide financial support for their training.”

WHO has been supporting the Government of Ghana to improve the maldistribution of doctors and other healthcare workers in Ghana. This includes assistance to develop the multi-criteria deprivation index to be used to objectively classify the districts according to their relative levels of deprivation. This when implemented can address both monetary and non-pecuniary aspects of encouraging retention in rural and under-served areas.

In addition, WHO is helping the development and implementation of health sector staffing norms whilst also providing support for training needs assessment of health workers. WHO with funding from the UK Department of Health and Social Care, (UK-DHSC) is also currently helping Ghana to embark on a health labour market analysis to contribute to future policies and strategies in addressing the health worker challenges, especially the needs of rural and under-served areas.

Dr Francis Kasolo pledged the WHO’s continuous support to Ghana in ensuring that no one anywhere is left behind in the access to healthcare services.

“As WHO, we will continue to work with all partners to help drive the government’s efforts to achieve equitable distribution of doctors and other healthcare workers in Ghana”, Dr Kasolo assures.
