Actor Luís Kifas Reinforces Social Commitment After Receiving Award


Luanda: Angolan actor and comedian Luís Kifas, known for his character “Sidónio,” expressed his gratitude on Tuesday for the award he received from the President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço, as part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of National Independence. “We can only say thank you. It’s recognition of all the work we’ve done over the years,” the artist said in a statement to the press.

According to Angola Press News Agency, this is the second official award Luís Kifas has received, following the National Hero Medal. “Now we receive the award for our 50th anniversary. Our responsibility also grows even greater,” he emphasized. A key figure in national culture, Kifas gained notoriety with the comedy duo “Sidónio and Lembinha,” alongside his wife, actress Josefina dos Santos. He therefore reiterated his commitment to continue using art as a tool for social awareness.

“We will maintain our commitment to awakening the population and raising awareness of the need to reclaim moral, ethical, an
d civic values, so that we can all be good citizens. That is our role,” he assured. Regarding the future of his career, he emphasized the continuity of the artistic duo. “We will continue, as I said, with our commitment to mobilize even more and to do what we know how to do: Sidónio and Lembinha.”

In his artistic career, Luís Kifas has been part of notable projects such as the television series “Conversas no Quintal,” broadcast on TPA, and has collaborated with theater groups, including Horizonte Njinga Mbandi and Julu. The award is part of the State’s tributes to individuals and institutions that have distinguished themselves in the promotion of culture, science, education, sports, and social development, as part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of National Independence.
