African Skating Games: Angola Finishes with Five Gold Medals

Cairo: The National Skating Team finished, on Monday, the African Nations Championship, held in Cairo - Egypt, with five gold medals. According to Angola Press News Agency, the national team secured a total of 17 medals, comprising 3 silver and 9 bronze medals. The women's national team outperformed their male counterparts by collecting 10 medals, while the men's team contributed with 7 medals. During the closing ceremony on Monday, Angola made a significant impact in the free jump style event, with Salvador Miguel clinching the gold medal, while the second and third positions were secured by Egypt and Liberia, respectively. The Angolan national team, consisting of 7 athletes-3 women and 4 men-concluded the competition in 3rd place overall and is scheduled to return to their home country on Wednesday. The team's exceptional performance marked an improvement from their 2023 participation in Lagos, Nigeria, where they had secured two silver medals in the Inline Freestyle event, thanks to athlete Siro Ngola. The women's team featured athletes Antónia Silva, competing in Slalom Classic, Glória Nkano in the 100m Sprint, and Nsimba Loseka in the 15,000m Elimination. The men's team included skaters such as Adelino Lucas for the 15,000m Elimination, Eliandro Xavier in Slalom Classic and Speed, Hermenegildo Joaquim for the 100m Sprint, and Salvador Miguel, who shined in the Free Jump discipline. The delegation was led by José Cipriano Ado and included coaches Osvaldo Miguel for Inline Freestyle and Lamec Bola for Inline Speed.
