Ambassador Lizeth Pena Presents Credentials in the Netherlands

The Hague: Ambassador Lizeth Nawanga Satumbo Pena presented her Credentials to King Willem-Alexander on Friday, accrediting her as the official representative of Angola in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The ceremony took place at the Royal Palace Noordeinde, where Lizeth Pena engaged in a brief conversation with the Dutch monarch. During this interaction, she conveyed a message from the President of the Republic, Joo Lourenço, emphasizing the importance of deepening relations between the two States. According to Angola Press News Agency, diplomatic and bilateral cooperation relations between Angola and the Netherlands were formally established on March 9, 1976, following the recognition of Angola's National Independence on February 18 of the same year. Despite this official beginning, the ties between the two countries trace back to colonial times and have been significantly strengthened over the years through cooperation in various sectors. The cooperation has been particularly prominent in areas such as the economic sector, sustainable development, education, health, and the promotion of peace and security. Both nations have been actively involved in exchanging visits by high-level multi-sectoral delegations, aligned with the agreements signed between them, further reinforcing their diplomatic relations.
