Angola Acknowledges Morocco’s Contribution to Independence Achievement

Rabat: Ambassador Jos© Filipe praised, in Rabat, the active participation of the Kingdom of Morocco in the struggle for Angola's independence on November 11, 1975. Speaking at the commemoration of the start of the armed struggle for Angolan independence, the Angolan diplomat recalled that Morocco had welcomed President Ant³nio Agostinho Neto in 1962 after his release from Aljube prison in Portugal. He noted that the two countries and peoples have historical ties.

According to Angola Press News Agency, "Morocco was one of the first countries in Africa to provide Angola with military training for its liberation struggle," said the ambassador. The diplomat added that, in November last year, President Joo Louren§o posthumously decorated King Hassan II to recognize the historical contribution of Morocco to Angola's independence, a gesture that seals the relationship between the two African nations.

Jos© Filipe emphasized that importing fertilizers from Morocco for Angolan agriculture, which started in 2025, and establishing the Angola-Morocco Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the first half of this year will foster greater engagement between entrepreneurs from both countries in economic, cultural, and sporting spheres.
