Angola Advocates Data Audit Platform for Portuguese-Speaking Nations

Luanda:The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Angola Sovereign Wealth Fund (FSDEA), Armando Manuel, has proposed the creation of a Portuguese-speaking platform for data audit methodology aimed at enhancing cooperation among the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

According to Angola Press News Agency, Armando Manuel made this proposal during a discussion on 'The Role of SAIs in Digital Transformation, Sustainability and Transparency'. He also advocated for the establishment of a continuous professional development academy for SAIs and an innovation laboratory led by young auditors from CPLP member states.

Manuel emphasized the necessity of coordinated audits focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and digital transformation. He suggested the creation of a Portuguese-language guide for best practices in using artificial intelligence (AI) in auditing, along with a commitment to transparency through publication and communication.

He pointed out that SAIs encounter significant challenges in adapting to the digital revolution, stressing the importance of maintaining technological sovereignty and data security while upholding ethical standards. He highlighted the importance of access to data and technological independence as vital to the autonomy of supreme audit institutions.

Discussing sovereign wealth funds and sustainability, Manuel described these funds as essential tools for intergenerational savings and economic stability, necessitating robust governance, clear separation of functions, and regular independent audits.

The remarks were part of the 3rd Meeting of Young Auditors of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the CPLP, which took place in Luanda from October 17 to 29, in conjunction with the 9th Seminar of the Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions of the CPLP. This event underscored Angola's role as President of the Organisation and its commitment to enhancing cooperation among Portuguese-speaking countries in the field of public auditing.
