Angola Confident on Dialogue Between DRC and Rwanda.

Luanda: Angola’s Foreign Minister, Téte António, expressed confidence on Monday in Luanda, stating that open dialogue between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda will pave the way for mutual understandings between the parties involved. The announcement was made during the opening of the 6th Ministerial Meeting on the Security and Peace Situation in eastern DRC.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Téte António emphasized the importance of this meeting as part of the ongoing efforts led by Angolan President João Lourenço to secure peace and stability in the region. The foreign minister acknowledged the presence of his counterparts, extending his wishes for a successful dialogue process.

The meeting brought together delegations led by Thérèse Wagner, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and La Francophonie of the DRC, and Olivier Nduhungirehe, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Rwanda. Angola is acting as a facilitator in these discussions.

The focus of the Tripartite Ministerial Meeting is to review the ‘Report of the Experts on the Concept of Operations (CONOP)’ and address the outstanding security issues outlined in the Draft Peace Agreement proposed by the facilitator. This meeting is seen as a significant step following Angola’s announcement on July 30 that the DRC and Rwanda had agreed to a ceasefire after discussions in Luanda.
