Cairo: Angola has been participating, since Tuesday, in the 21st Meeting of Senior Officials of the Coordination Committee of the Africa-Arab Partnership in Cairo, Egypt, focusing on the necessity of intensified dialogue amid global challenges. Leading the Angolan delegation is Miguel Bembe, Angola's Permanent Representative to the African Union.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Angola's involvement in this meeting, which concludes on Thursday, is due to its role as a member of the Bureau of the African Union Conference, where it serves as rapporteur. This participation is part of broader efforts to bolster cooperation between African and Arab nations. The meeting's key objective is to evaluate the progress of resolutions and guidelines from the 4th Africa-Arab Summit held on November 23, 2016, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Additionally, the African Union delegation had discussions with Egypt's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Mohamed Abu Bakr. These discussions focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between the African Union and the Arab League. Topics of discussion included the importance of political and diplomatic dialogue to tackle shared international challenges and exploring cooperation opportunities in economic development, digital connectivity, technological innovation, infrastructure, and investment partnerships.
Deputy Minister Abu Bakr reaffirmed Egypt's dedication to strengthening the Africa-Arab cooperation platform, which was initially established on March 29, 2007, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 21st Meeting of Senior Officials of the Africa-Arab Partnership Coordination Committee unites representatives from both regions to review the progress, challenges, and future prospects of inter-regional collaboration.
