Angola Highlights Political Stability as a Basis for Development

Kalemie: The Consul General of Angola in the Katanga Region, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), António Miala, emphasized political stability as a crucial factor for attracting investment, stimulating economic growth, and fostering sustainable development. According to Angola Press News Agency, the diplomat underscored Angola's achievements in national reconciliation, reconstruction, and political stability during the 11th edition of Expo Beton DRC 2026, held from May 27 to 30 in Kalemie, Tanganyika Province. Miala's presentation focused on Angola as a model for institutional trust, democratic engagement, and regular electoral processes. During his address, Miala advocated for dialogue, national cohesion, and institutional strengthening as vital components for rebuilding nations affected by armed conflict. He actively engaged in panels discussing regional economic integration, customs cooperation, and sustainable development. At the forum, Miala highlighted the Lobito Corridor's strategic role in enhancin g connectivity, economic integration, and prosperity across Africa. He reaffirmed Angola's dedication to supporting peace and stability efforts in the DRC. While in Tanganyika Province, Miala met with the President of the Provincial Assembly, Kimpu Awel Cyril, extending courtesy greetings. He emphasized the economic potential of the region, particularly in the mining sector, and recalled the historical friendship between Angola and the DRC, noting that many Angolans sought refuge in Congolese territory during times of conflict.
