Angola Hosts CPLP Justice Summit Focused on Judicial Autonomy

Luanda: Angola is scheduled to host the II Summit of the Forum of Superior Councils of Justice of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) on October 8 and 9. This event is part of the rotating Presidency that Angola currently holds. According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release indicated that the meeting will be held under the theme "Separation of Powers and Administrative and Financial Autonomy of the Judiciary." The primary goal of the summit is to stimulate dialogue on the mission and challenges faced by the Superior Councils of Justice within the Portuguese-speaking community. The Forum will act as a platform for consultation and sharing experiences in justice administration. It is expected to gather the highest judicial management bodies from Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, So Tomé and Príncipe, Brazil, Portugal, and Timor-Leste. The summit also aims to enhance institutional cooperation between Member States, with a particular emphasis on modernizing judicial manag ement, notably through the integration of new technologies in justice services. The first edition of this meeting occurred in November 2023, in Praia, Cabo Verde, and revolved around the theme 'Impact of new technologies on judicial organization, training and management'.
