Angola Increases Citizen’s Identity Card Issuance Capacity to 60,000 Per Day

Luanda: Angola has significantly increased its capacity to issue national identity cards, with the daily output now reaching 60,000 documents, up from the previous 12,000. This announcement was made by Marcy Lopes, Minister of Justice and Human Rights, during a visit to Luena in Moxico Province. According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister attributed this substantial increase to the modernisation and technological decentralisation of the sector. The country now boasts identity card printing facilities across all 21 provinces, including nine in the capital, Luanda. Minister Lopes made these remarks following an inspection visit to Moxico Province alongside Minister of Territorial Administration Daniel Félix Neto. He addressed the pressing issue in the municipality of Lucusse, where many residents either hold expired identity cards or do not possess one at all. Efforts are underway to establish a local issuance centre, which is slated to become operational within two weeks. Currently, only Luena munici pality is equipped with a printing unit, although a second unit is planned to enhance service capacity. The minister also highlighted the nationwide availability of home delivery for identity cards. While this service incurs a fee of 10,000 kwanzas, opting for home delivery remains at the discretion of the citizens. The State continues to provide facilities for processing the documents, with home delivery serving as an optional convenience.
