Angola Reaffirms Commitment to Africa’s Energy Transition

Luanda: Angola has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the energy transition in Africa and diversifying the continent's electricity mix during the 8th Meeting of the Regional Committee of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for Africa, held from 25 to 27 August in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. According to a press release from the Ministry of Energy and Water sent to ANGOP on Sunday, the Angolan delegation was led by Ambassador Baltazar Diogo Cristóvo, representing the Minister of Energy and Water, Joo Baptista Borges. The meeting focused on accelerating solar energy development in Africa, expanding access to electricity, and mobilizing investment for cleaner, safer, and more sustainable energy solutions. During the event, the Angolan delegation highlighted ongoing investments in the country aimed at expanding solar photovoltaic energy, energy storage capacity, and the utilization of Angola's hydropower potential to enhance energy security and support economic and social development. Angola's participa tion in the meeting, the statement said, reaffirms the Government's commitment to the energy transition and to a vision in which energy serves as a fundamental pillar for industrialization, electrification, and regional economic integration.
