Angola Registers Two New Political Parties

Luanda: Angola's Constitutional Court (TC) announced this Thursday the registration of two new political formations, namely the Bloc for the Social Alternation of All Angolans (BASTA) and the Patriotic Union Party (PUP), which now form part of Angola's political spectrum.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the registration of the two political forces was carried out pursuant to the Political Parties Law and the Organic Law of the Constitutional Court. These laws grant the institution's President, Laurinda Prazeres, the authority to register new political parties.

The respective orders confirm that both political formations fulfilled the legally established requirements, having submitted the necessary subscriptions as mandated by law. Additionally, it was verified that their names, acronyms, symbols, and other identifying elements are distinct from those of political parties already registered.

The statutes, programmes, and other identifying elements of the two new political formations will be published in Series III of the Official Gazette.
