Angola Secures Spot in Afrobasket Semi-Finals with Victory Over Cape Verde

Luanda: The national basketball team of Angola has successfully advanced to the semi-finals of the Afrobasket 2025 after a decisive victory over Cape Verde. The match, which ended with a final score of 90-80, took place at the Kilamba pavilion in Luanda.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the game was fiercely contested, with both teams battling closely throughout. Angolan point guard Childe Dundo emerged as the standout performer, leading the scoreboard with an impressive 30 points. However, the team faced a setback when centre Jilson Bango was forced to withdraw from the game due to an injury.

The match was officiated by referees Yan Davidso from Madagascar, Nigerian Kingsley Csjeanburu, and Grant Today from the United States of America. Angola's team, coached by Spaniard Pep Clar³s, includes key players such as Eduardo Francisco, Selton Miguel, and Gerson Gon§alves, with Childe Dundo playing a pivotal role in their latest triumph.

Cape Verde's lineup, guided by Angolan coach Emanuel Trovoada, featured players like Patrick Lima, Anin Delgado, and Ivan Almeida. Despite their efforts, they were unable to overcome Angola's strong performance. The victory propels Angola into the next stage of the tournament, where they will continue to compete for the championship title.
