Luanda: The Angolan senior women's wheelchair basketball team has been selected by the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) to participate in the qualifying tournament for the World Championship. The tournament is set to take place from June 5th to 12th in Madrid, Spain.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Angola's inclusion in the qualifiers follows their achievement of securing third place at the African Championship, which was recently held at the Kilamba Pavilion in Luanda. The upcoming tournament in Madrid will see participation from eight countries representing Africa, Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania.
The top four teams from this qualifying event will earn direct entry into the World Championship, scheduled to be held in September in Ottawa, Canada. In preparation for this international event, Angola's national technical team will initiate a pre-selection call-up of the team. The selected players are expected to convene on the 10th of next month at the 'Jos© Sayovo' Paralympic High Performance Center in Caxito, Bengo province.
