Cairo:Angola's senior women's national handball team concluded an impressive week in Cairo with a 24-18 victory over Egypt on Saturday night. This win marked the end of a two-game sweep in their third IHF training cycle.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Angolan team faced a strong challenge from Egypt in the early stages of the game. They managed to secure a narrow 10-9 lead at halftime after a competitive first half.
In the second half, Angola's experience and defensive strength became evident, enabling them to extend their lead and secure a six-point win. This victory followed their 27-23 win against Egypt in the opening match on Thursday.
The training cycle featured a deep roster for Angola, including goalkeepers Marta Alberto and Filig©nia Morais; pivots Thayany Castro and Liliane M¡rio; left backs Vilma Nenganga and Rossana Mateus; right backs Juliana Machado and Lurdes Pedro; center backs Helena Paulo and Chelcia Gabriel; utility star Isabel Guialo; left wingers Mbongo Masseu and Marcela Tati; and right wingers Emingarda Ferreira and Balbina Nunda.
This training cycle is a critical part of Angola's preparations as they aim to defend their title at the African Women's Handball Championship, which is scheduled for November in Tunisia.
