Angolan Health Professionals Embrace First Training on UpToDate Platform

Luanda: Several Angolan health professionals are participating in the country's first training session on "UpToDate," an international platform supporting clinical decision-making based on scientific evidence. According to Angola Press News Agency, a press release from the Ministry of Health highlights that this event signifies a new step in the digital transformation of the health sector. It aims to bring Angolan professionals closer to the latest scientific knowledge, enabling them to make safer and more evidence-based clinical decisions. The initiative is a commitment to bridging the gap between scientific knowledge, clinical practice, and the quality of care. It provides a tool designed to support decisions at critical moments, ultimately impacting patients' lives positively. Specialists from "Wolters Kluwer," the company behind UpToDate, will conduct the training. UpToDate is renowned as one of the world's leading reference platforms for evidence-based clinical information, used by health professional s in over 190 countries. For the first time, Angolan health professionals will have direct access, in a training environment, to a technological tool designed to provide updated clinical information and support informed decision-making. "UpToDate" compiles more than 13,000 clinical topics, thousands of charts and images, medical calculators, pharmacological information, and content continuously updated by a network of over 7,600 specialists. The platform can support various professional categories, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, physiotherapists, psychologists, diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, health managers, resident doctors, and students. This promotes an integrated and multidisciplinary approach. The training, promoted by the Ministry of Health through the National Institute of Health Specialization (IES) and the Implementation Unit of the Human Resources Training Project for Universal Health Coverage (UIP-PFRHS), aligns with the strategy to enhance continuous training, specialization, and updating. This is associated with the introduction of digital solutions to support clinical activity.
