Luanda: A collection of over 3,000 technical and scientific books has been made available to the medical community by the Angolan Ministry of Health to reinforce specialized training and strengthen the National Health System. According to Angola Press News Agency, this initiative is led by the Health Human Resources Training Project Implementation Unit, in partnership with the Institute for Health Specialization, and will benefit the 3,550 doctors currently enrolled in 39 specialty programs across the country. During the handover ceremony held at the Julius Nyerere Burn Hospital in Luanda, 500 copies were symbolically presented, while the remaining 2,572 books will be distributed among the training institutions involved in the project. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Health Minister Sílvia Lutucuta stated that the gesture reflects the Executive's commitment to valuing scientific knowledge, improving the quality of medical care, and ensuring patient safety. The minister added that investing in the trainin g of health professionals means improving the quality of services provided to the population and building an increasingly efficient and sustainable health system. Sílvia Lutucuta noted that the 3,550 doctors in training are distributed across 39 specialties implemented in all provinces, reflecting the nation's training capacity. "As part of this investment, the Ministry of Health has acquired works used in medical schools, university hospitals, and research centers to reinforce medical training based on scientific evidence," she emphasized. According to her, in addition to distributing the books, the department plans to bolster the libraries at training centers this year with specialized scientific journals; this will support the accreditation processes led by the Institute for Health Specialization, with the backing of the Medical Association's specialty boards. The minister encouraged physicians to use these resources for study and continuous professional development, emphasizing that the investment woul d only be impactful if it led to more accurate diagnoses, more effective treatments, and better healthcare for the Angolan population. On this occasion, the minister urged doctors to maintain a mindset of lifelong learning, cultivate a scientific spirit, develop critical thinking skills, and practice medicine with discipline, ethics, humility, and a profound commitment to human life. The official declared the National Book Distribution Event for Medical Residents officially open, highlighting the initiative as a significant step toward a more modern, scientific, and humanized Angolan medical sector focused on improving the quality of healthcare. The Health Human Resources Training Project is one of the Ministry of Health's key investments, focusing on enhancing training quality, modernizing curricula, strengthening institutions, fostering international scientific cooperation, and promoting health research.
