Angolan Moko Competes in 400m Final at World Paralympics Championships


New delhi: Long-distance runner Juliana Moko is set to compete in the 400m final for visually impaired athletes (class T11) at the World Paralympics Championships on Monday at 3 p.m. The championships, which are being held in New Delhi, India, will continue until October 5.



According to Angola Press News Agency, Juliana Moko, hailing from Benguela province, secured her place in the final after clocking a time of 1:03.20 in the semifinals held on Sunday. In the final, Moko will face competition from five other athletes, including Brazil’s Simpl­cio da Silva, who posted a time of 1:01.76, as well as Melissa Baldeira of Peru, and Kenyan runners Priscah Jepkemei and Nancy Chelangat.



Angola’s presence at the championships will continue on Tuesday when Juliana Moko and Regina Dumbo, an athlete from the province of Huambo, compete in the 100 meters event.
