Angolan Politicians Highlight Efforts to Strengthen Country’s International Reputation

Luanda: MPLA Vice-President Mara Quiosa said on Monday in Luanda that Angola's image is becoming increasingly prominent and positively recognised across Africa and the wider world. Speaking after the inauguration of the Luanda Convention Centre by President Joo Lourenço, Mara Quiosa congratulated and encouraged the Executive for delivering what she described as a landmark infrastructure project. She stressed that the new facility, made available to all Angolans, will contribute to the promotion of business tourism and enhance the country's visibility beyond its borders. According to Angola Press News Agency, Quiosa remarked, 'Today we have greater dignity, because this centre is comparable in quality to many facilities found in countries across Africa and Europe.' She also highlighted the importance of preserving and maintaining the infrastructure, emphasising that all Angolans have a direct or indirect responsibility to value it and ensure that it remains an attractive and well-maintained venue. She recalle d that, as President Joo Lourenço had noted, it was long overdue for Luanda to have a facility of this nature, given the large number of foreign delegations the city has hosted in recent years to discuss matters of importance to Angola, the region, and the wider international community. However, she reiterated the need to continue strengthening the tourism and hospitality sectors. Meanwhile, UNITA Vice-President Arlete Chimbinda argued that all citizens should work towards the country's development and strengthen Angola's capacity to attract foreign investment. She also praised the scale and quality of the infrastructure, describing it as an important asset for national development.
